Featured Designer of the Week: Mary

This week's featured designer is Mary*, owner of the fashion label YOUnique. She has been a long time member of Avenue7 and really helpful with feedback and suggestions about the site. Today we honour this fashionista with this interview. Check it out!

What don’t we kick things off with you telling us about yourself?
Hello! My name is Mary. I'm from USA, NY to be specific. I'm 14 years old. And right now I'm a freshman so yay! :D Haha. You know the 3 F’s? Fashion, Friends & Family. Those 3 stuff mean lots to me! Lets start by family and friends, without them I’m absolutely loss. I love you guys! Although they’re not gonna read this, but oh well ._. And fashion! Oh fashion. Right now, I’m imagining life with no fashion, omg hideous and horrifying! I LOVE FASHION. ♥ I absolutely love dancing, it’s my therapy. I dance ballet since I was 7, and here I am; dancing my butt off hahaa. Another thing would be I totally love music. I love how songs express your feelings precisely. It’s like they know your story behind those lyrics. :)

How would you describe your sense of style?
I actually believe it's quite trendy. I absolutely love to follow the latest trends. My style is a mixture of girly, classy and boho. I'm a HUGE fan of shorts, I love shorts! You'd most often see me wearing shorts, a tank top and flip-flops with lots of bracelets. Yup, that's me. :)

Tell us a little about what you use Avenue7 for and why?
I'd say I'm a bit addicted to Avenue7. I mean, it's not my fault it's irresistible! The two reasons I use Avenue7 are, first; I love to express my fashion taste and style through the outfits I create. The second reason would be making friends! People here are amazing, literally. In a way I wish I met them in real. Talia--, Kel <3, holly* , Jennn. , :Erica. and lots of others who I was lucky enough to meet. Amazing people.

Tell us how you go about creating an outfit? Where do you get your inspiration from?
I don't have any specific inspiration. My outfits are a total mix and match. From classics, to vintage, to casual to girly to hippie.. Etc. I don't care about the style as long as it pleases me. I mean, I can't base them on the members' taste, because everyone have their own different style and critics are everywhere.

What are your 3 favourite outfits on Avenue7 and why?
Ahh! Tough one you guys. Um, I'd probably choose:

M: This outfit drove me crazy! It's so stylish and gives a warm feeling. Holly is such a stunner. She has an amazing style; which is quite similar to mine.

What fashion trends are cool where you live now?
Jeggings and blazers are very common here lately! I got myself tons of them. As I said before, I follow the trends. :)

How did you come up with the name for your Fashion Label?
It's called YOUnique. I believe that a person is not unique unless they're themselves. So be yourself, be YOUnique!

Any suggestions for things you would like to see on Avenue7 and shout outs to people?
I'd love if chatting was available on here. It's so much easier to communicate with members. And I really hate that you get to add a limited number of users as friends. And I'd love to say to all; I love you girlies!

What are two of your favorite outfits and why? And what was your inspiration for each of these outfits? (This question was asked by last week’s featured *aUdReY*!)


M: Sailor gone Chanel is definitely one of my favorite outfits! I wanted a theme for the outfit I was creating back then, until I luckily found that picture and the idea immediately popped into my mind! I love how I mixed the sailor theme with Chanel. And I believe I'd totally wear that :)

M: The first thing I love about this outfit would be the outfit itself. I then started matching random stuff with it and filling the space. I also looked for a picture which has similar colors to the outfit. And I have no idea how I made up the title, but I remember it had something to do with Beauty and the Beast. Haha :)
